Beginners Series – for people who are new to Computers

1. Absolute Beginners & Window....... $340

Course covers – OH&S, hardware and software. Terminology, turning on and shutting down, mastering the operations of a computer, Windows, desktop, startbar, short-cuts, using the mouse: when to click, double-click, right & left click, click & drag, resizing & moving windows, dialog boxes, drop-down lists, scroll bars, display properties, maximize, minimize, restore, starting & using a program. How to customize and personalize your computer. Creating a new file and saving files, hard drives, other drives, menu bar commands, save as a new file, introduction to file management, creating and managing folders, opening files, moving & deleting files, the recycle bin, restoring deleted files, file views, detailed, large, small icons etc. Paint – first graphics program. Learn to run several programs at once and switch or toggle between them. Solitare and lots more … 

2. Beginners Two & more Windows...... $340

Learn more about managing files, create a folder, saving in a folder, renaming, recycle bin. You will learn to work with icons and shortcuts and keyboard keys Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Esc, Tab, Num lock, and lots more. Learn parts of the desktop screen and the quick launch bar. Title bars and menu bars, type a letter, text wrapping, moving around text, select & unselect text, moving, deleting &
inserting text, format text: bold, italics, underline, fonts, point sizes, cut, copy & paste text, print preview, printing, page orientation, cancelling a print job, and much more including file types.

3. Typing – 10 sessions (2 hours each session+).... $165

If you have basic typing skills and need to improve your typing skills and speed, take advantage of our Learn to Type offer. A focused concentrated effort and determination can increase your typing speed from 0 to 50+ words per minute within a week.

1. Word Level 1 (Wordprocessing).... $340

Word screen including toolbars - turning toolbars on and off and moving them, view icons, show/hide and zoom. Using browse objects button, find, replace and goto. Highlighting text using the mouse, keyboard & selection bar, Undo and redo, inserting and deleting text, copy and past and saving files. You’ll create a For Sale sign, Invitation, price list and Café menu. Move text around in a large document and from one document to another using Drag and drop, cut and paste. You will learn how to make your document look professional by applying formatting using bold, italic, font, colour. Format Painter for fast formatting. Page formatting using margins, page size, orientation. Use tabs to create a price list or café menu. Apply paragraph formatting like indenting, alignment and bullets to create numbered lists. Borders and shading to make selected parts of your document stand out. Look at printing options so that you print only the pages you want, collate etc…. 

  

2. Word Level 2.... $340

You will learn about Headers and Footers, to place text above and below the main body of text, you’ll use them to create a letterhead. Create a Template that you can use many times over. Create a table with rows and columns to lay your information out more clearly and structured. Learn more advanced features of bullets, changing the style, size and positioning of bullets. Work with complicated layouts which contains several different types of breaks (section, column and continuous) to make our document look more professional. Looking at the different ways that the spelling of text is altered, AutoText and adding words to the dictionary. You will learn how to change the spelling dictionary from US to English. Use drawing tools like WordArt, Autoshapes, Text Boxes, Drawing Arrows, inserting Clipart and Wrapping text around and through pictures. 

  

Creating labels: Create your own address labels that will be printed on a page of labels. Great if you change address or want people to know your reply to address. Perform mail merge and learn how to have the same letter going to many different people but have each letter personalized with individual details. Create address labels for these mail merged files. Learn about the structure of data with things like field and record delimiters, text formats like CSV, TAB and more. Bring a chart into Word from Excel.

4. Excel Spreadsheet Level 1.... $340

You will learn the Excel screen including toolbars, formula bar, name box, column and row headings, sheet tabs … uses for Excel (Worksheet, Database & Charting). Getting around a spreadsheet using keyboard & mouse, moving between workbooks. Selecting or highlighting cells, columns and rows & entire spreadsheets. Entering information into workbooks, resizing and colour coding columns and rows. Editing data, insert and delete columns, AutoComplete, calculations, formulas & functions, AutoSum, AutoFill series, fill handle, copy formulas, moving cells, drag and drop, formatting and presenting data with background colour, borders and shading, number formats and more, preview, merging cells, rotating text in cells, AutoFormats, aligning page break preview, Page Setup, headings, on every page (print and screen) freezing panes, scaling, headers and footers, printing & more.  

  

5. Excel Level 2.... $340

Work with a database to sort and filter the information. Using actual exercise files you learn to create charts and customize the chart so that it presents professionally. Use complicated functions like IF statements, average, max, min and more, complicated calculations and calculations between multiple sheets, filtering data for reports, contribution across sheets, and lots more.

6. PowerPoint.... $340
Screen components, existing slide shows, normal (tri-pane) View, navigating, AutoContent wizard, presentation types, create new presentations, add slides, bulleting text, slide show controls, Auto-Layout formats, Autofit text, FreeForm text, formatting, format painter, border & fill colour, tabs and indents, working with outlines, Summary Slide, Slide Sorter, view thumbnails, Design Temples, Clipart, moving graphics, adding sound, resizing graphics, control the running of a slide show, presenting a slide show and much more …

 

7. Internet Surfing and Emails.... $340
Getting connected to the world, Surfing your way around the internet, back, forward, stop, refresh & home, visiting, recording and adding to your favourite website list, using search engines, history information, opening multiple windows, search within specific websites. Emails: setting up your very own email address, send and receive emails, colour your emails, inbox, outbox, sent items folder, reply to emails received or forward to someone else, attaching files and so much more. 

  

8. Publisher.... $340
Desktop publishing software used to create a whole range of advertising flyers, newsletters, certificates, brochures, invitations, menus, greeting cards, letter heads, business cards and so much more. Create and design professional publications. Learn new techniques, work with text and graphics, apply design features, use drawing tools.
